Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a medical system that has been in use to diagnose, treat and prevent illness for over 23 centuries. For thousands of years Oriental Medicine has acknowledged that there is a vital life force that flows through all things which is called "Qi” (or as it is referred to in the West, "Energy”). Qi flows along pathways in the human body which are related to the organs and tendo-muscular system. When the balance of this Qi is disturbed due to either trauma, poor diet, medications, stress, hereditary conditions, environmental factors or excessive emotional issues, pain or illness often results. Acupuncture focuses on correcting these energetic imbalances by breaking up any obstruction and encouraging an even flow of Qi, which stimulates the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Acupuncture has gained new respect in modern times as some of the reasons for its effectiveness have come to light. Modern science has shown that the stimulation of certain acupuncture points influences the neuro-hormonal components of the body thereby influencing and balancing the function of the organism. Neuropeptides, such as endorphins, are endogenous substances which influence our immune systems, brains, moods and thoughts, and the balance of various physiological activities. Acupuncture can directly influence the synthesis and secretion of these various chemicals, promoting harmonious function of the body’s various systems.
Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is arranged via a liscensed therapist who is a trained facilitator of intrapersonal and extrapersonal communication. Psychotherapy is usually based in one area of Psychology such as Gestalt, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Therapy, Behavioral Therapy etc. The goal of these sessions is exploration of self in relation to self, exploration of self in relation to another, exploration of self in any relationship (ie personal growth, couples, work, family, etc.). The pursuit of understanding of self in distress is the more common use of Psychotherapy. Also personal growth alone can be the goal.
